The Arena at Carmans River

We have designed Quadrant A to be one of the premier destination locations on Long Island. As part of the master development plan, AvalonBay and Damianos envision a 4,000 seat arena in response to the County's need for a multipurpose arena on the site. Stafford Sports, one of the nation's leading consulting firms for the development, planning and operation of sports and entertainment public assembly facilities has joined the RFP response team. As their qualifications illustrate, Stafford Sports brings a marquee name and depth of expertise in the complex arena world and will assist in the arena related aspects of the master development.

Abutting the Arena at Carmans River will be an indoor practice facility which will house a regulation NHL hockey rink. We envision the practice rink to be used by both the professional arena team(s) as well as the community. As part of the master plan for Quadrant A, the development team conceptualized this area to be a highly active mixed-use area with exceptional access to both the LIE and LIRR. Specifically Quadrant A will contain a host of complimentary uses surrounding the Arena and Practice Facility to include 4 restaurant pads, 100,000 sq/ft of office and 250 units of housing in a mixed-use development.

The Long Island Rail Road station will be upgraded to beautify one of the gateways into the new community to include increased parking and a walkable entryway from the LIRR station to the arena, office and residential destinations. Building 10 will remain as requested in the RFP and will be incorporated into the proposed development plan by focusing the development into the site creating a walkable community to visitors and residents of the site.
