As part of the completion of Avalon Pines in Coram, Long Island, AvalonBay built and donated new ballfields to the Town of Brookhaven.

Long Island Lacrosse and Soccer Complex / Central Park

Quadrant C will provide Long Island with its only multipurpose sports complex large enough to host regional, as well as national, soccer and lacrosse tournaments. The Long Island Lacrosse and Soccer Complex will feature a total of 10 fields for multipurpose use with 9 outdoor fields (4 Field Turf and 5 Natural Grass) and the outdoor facility dubbed "Championship Stadium". We envision Championship Stadium as one of the many special jewels in this Quadrant. Conceptually Championship Stadium would house a field turf field that would be surrounded by bleacher seating able to accommodate 1,000 spectators in bowl configuration. The Press Box area would feature professional quality public address system and a Collegiate-level electronic scoreboard.

For the nation's universities, Long Island is considered one of the most fertile recruiting grounds for Lacrosse and Soccer talent in U.S. Despite this phenomenon, Long Island does not house a complex large enough to showcase its talent on a national stage. The Long Island Lacrosse and Soccer Complex would allow Suffolk County to play host the region's talented teams and showcase Long Island's talent to visiting teams from around the country.

To compliment the use at the Lacrosse and Soccer Complex, the development team has designed an area adjacent to the fields that is envisioned as Central Park. This area, along with Central Park Pond, will provide a place for those in the community to engage in recreational uses, picnicking and relaxation. This site will also serve as an alternate location for families visiting and using the Lacrosse and Soccer Complex who would like an alternative to the game atmosphere during use.
